Yesterday, Year 4 experienced a realistic day of Victorian lessons as part of their history learning. The children (and Year 4 adults) dressed up in their Victorian attire and had to pay a penny to attend school. They even had their classrooms arranged in the Victorian way of traditional rows – separated into boys and girls.  Lessons included handwriting, using blackboard and chalk as well as ink pen handwriting, arithmetic, poetry, deportment activities and traditional activities like technical art printing, in the style of William Morris and cross-stitching. The children were constantly reminded by Mistress Wheal that,  “CHILDREN SHOULD BE SEEN, NOT HEARD!” Here are some pictures from our Victorian Day…
