We encourage parents/carers to view our school prior to applying for a place for your child. Our Open Morning and Open Afternoon took place on Thursday 15 November 2018 at 9am and 2pm. During these sessions potential parents/carers had the opportunity to meet with our Executive Head Teacher and Associate Head Teacher, receive a mini presentation about the school and receive a tour by our Gomer Reps. We have a welcome meeting for our new Y3 parents and carers scheduled for Monday 10 June at 2pm or 5pm. We will be sending home information regarding transition, via Gomer Infant book bags, on Friday 3 May and posting to families who are joining us from other schools.

For those of you seeking a school place now, we offer tours of our school every first Thursday of the month. If you are unable to attend these mornings, please call us on Tel: 023 92524312 and speak to Mrs Austin to arrange a time for your visit.  We are more than happy to answer any questions or queries you may have. We are currently full and rarely have children leaving in-year. However, please do contact us and we will endeavour to process your enquiry. Our classrooms are small so it is important we maintain class sizes of no more than 30 per class.

The first policy below references admissions to Gomer Junior for  September 2020 and the second to Gomer for September 2019. We have also included below the policy for 2018.

Timeline for applications to Year 3 for September 2019 

Online application system opens – Wednesday 1 November 2018

Parents of children resident in Hampshire (not including Portsmouth or Southampton) wishing to apply for a place to start school or transfer to junior school (including schools outside Hampshire) can apply online. Paper forms are also available on request from any  Hampshire schools or the County Admissions Team.

National deadline for Year 3 (junior school) applications – midnight, Monday 14 January 2019.

The online application system will close at midnight on this date. Paper application forms should be returned to a Hampshire County Council school during school hours or the County Admissions Team. by this date.

Final date for changes to on-time applications – Thursday 14 February 2019.

If you provide evidence to the County Admissions Team of a significant change in your circumstances since 15 January, (usually a change of address) you may make a change to an on-time application up until this date. No changes can be made after 14 February 2019.

National notification date – Monday 15 April 2019.

Online applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by e-mail. They will also be able to log into the online system to view their application outcome. Parents who submitted an on-time paper application will be sent a letter on Tuesday 16 April 2019 by first-class post. Letters will also be sent to online applicants, in addition to their e-mail, who were not offered a place at their first preference school.

Monday 30 April  2019 – Late applications received after 15 January and before 16 April will be considered.

From Tuesday 1 May 2019 – Late applications received on or after 16 April will be considered.

Please note

(i) Appeals lodged after 29 March 2019 will be heard on the above date if possible, or within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.

(ii) For late applications, appeals will be heard within 40 school days from the deadline of lodging the appeals (where possible) or within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.

(iii) Appellants will receive at least 10 school days’ notice of the location of their appeal hearing.

(iv) Following the lodging of an appeal, additional papers may be submitted to
