Traditionally, a scarecrow is posted on cultivated ground to deter birds or other animals from eating or otherwise disturbing seeds, shoots, and fruit. The scarecrow of popular tradition is a mannequin stuffed with straw; free-hanging, often reflective parts movable by the wind are commonly attached to increase effectiveness. At Gomer, the scarecrows are made in order to be creative, have some fun and be entered into Gosport in Bloom! Upon his arrival, the Gosport in Bloom judge was met by the Royal Family today. The judge admired the creativity of the children’s scarecrows and enjoyed hearing all about how they were made. Our Royal Family will be joining us for tea tomorrow too! Please do stop by and take a selfie… The corgi, Jubilee, was a big hit with the judge. Mrs Mulhall is very fond of Jubilee and has been walking her about most of the day!
