We were delighted to be shortlisted for an EBP Amazing People Award in the category of Amazing Educational Establishment who promotes careers education. We were further delighted to have won this category in which there were 9 schools in total, all representing secondary aged pupils, with the exception of Gomer. The judges were impressed with our STEM curriculum and how this has been used to link to industry. Furthermore, how Gomer pupils are provided with lots of opportunities to help them think about their futures and be aspirational for achievement great things. We do not have to use the Gatsby Benchmarks (a secondary tool for assessing career models) but we do and achieve very well within them – this was noted too. Our subtle and age appropriate approach is a leading edge model and something we plan to share more widely. Mrs Mulhall said, ‘Again, I am delighted that Gomer’s pioneering curriculum approach has been recognised. It was wonderful to be nominated and further pleasing to have won the over-all award. Go Gomer!’
