On Monday morning of last week, to support our transition work, children from across Y5 and Y6 learnt 3-4 songs for the concert, repeating harmonies and engaging in some recall work. Later in the morning, working in pairs they used the keyboards to compose a short piece of music and then perform it to the rest of the group.
Then musical acton continued after break and children involved themselves in drums and instruments. The children composed a samba piece using various different instruments, while the drummer learnt how to play the jamba drums. The children then swopped activities.
For those children who were not watching the World Cup, they performed their Samba or  the orchestra and did superbly. Performing on the stage in front of such a big audience takes considerable confidence. The children were then treated to an impressive array of musical talent from the Bay House students. Mrs Mulhall and Mrs Toone were very impressed with the Jazz Band and harmonica player.
Congratulations to all the children involved in the day or evenings events. With thanks the parents who supported the event too. With thanks to the Bay House Music Department for this superb opportunity.
