As the sun shone down brightly on a wonderful picnic feast prepared by the children, it was smiles all around. The Y5 Buddies have been busy getting to know the Y2 children as they prepare to start Gomer Junior School in September. The children spent three sessions getting to know each over the course of the week. Y5 started by bringing in their favourite story books and reading together with the Y2 children to build new friendships which will last for the year ahead. Next they designed together their sandwiches and created a transition picnic invitation for the Y2 parents. The highlight was of course the picnic itself. After carefully preparing the sandwiches together the children waited in eager anticipation for their families to arrive.  Y5 shone brightly with this new responsibility and many Y2 parents came to thank the class for how warmly their child had been welcomed into Gomer Junior School and how this had helped take any worries away.
