On Monday 18 December, following a successful visit from some Y6 pupils, 4VW visited the Northcott House Residential Care and Nursing Home, to share some Christmas spirit.
One trombone, a few bells, an acoustic guitar, a ukulele, 30 children, a selection of Christmas songs and lots of energy, created a magical experience for both the children and the residents.
The generation gap was in excess of 87 years!
Millie and Maiya shared, “We liked to see everyone having a good time and it was nice to share something special to people that haven’t sung for a long time. We really enjoyed ‘jingle bells’ because it was nice to see the residents playing their instruments with us.”
Jace and Toby joked, “We think it was a really great experience and would love to meet the residents again. We really enjoyed playing our instruments and the biscuits!”
Northcott House Residential Care and Nursing Home were extremely grateful by giving the children a catered interval of juice, biscuits and mince pies, as well as a goody bag to say Thank you.
We wish them a very Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2018.
We hope to increase our link with Northcott House and look forward to many exciting connections in the new year – especially with Year 4’s History Heritage Trail Project to discover more about our local area.
