insetToday has been a common day closure for schools across the town. Gomer Junior were delighted to offer an English training session to teachers from across Gosport and Fareham. The focus of the session, led by our ‘Specialist Leader of Education’ Mr Woolway, provided a forum to share Gomer’s approach to teaching, spelling, punctuation and grammar that have enabled us to achieve excellent KS2 results.

Miss Holden (Inclusion Leader) and Mrs Toone (SMSC and PSHE and FOL) attended a half day session at Henry Cort regarding strategies to support good mental health. Miss Hannaway (Learning Mentor) has been receiving Team Teach training west of the county, increasing the capacity of Team Teach trained staff. Other staff have had a focus on humanities in foundation subject development and review of our curriculum map. And, with a little free time, the hall displays were updated, reflecting more of the wonderfulness that is Gomer Junior.

Additionally, all of Team Gomer have had a half days training, led by Mr Tyreman (LWS), with a behaviour foci. We have a very positive approach to behaviour at Gomer and the ‘Gomer Responsibilities’ are an integral part of school life. The session this afternoon was a good opportunity to reflect on our school policy  to ensure consistency of approach in all areas of school life.

Wishing you all a very enjoyable long weekend.
