bag 2 school
Today, in our Collective Worship, we explored what the word ‘refugee’ means and who and why people become refugees. It was an opportunity to reflect on how wonderful, and at the same time, how cruel our world is. We briefly discussed the current situation in Calais and in Syria.
The school community wants to help the refugee crisis that has been well documented within recent media coverage. We are well aware that some of you have already made donations and/or provided much needed items for refugees located in different parts of Europe. However, we are wanting to provide an easy fundraising opportunity that will help you have a sort through at home too.
You may remember our ‘Bag 2 School’ fundraising scheme from last year. We are repeating this to make fundraising easy. Each child will soon be sent home with a bag with you to fill with any unwanted clothing items or textiles. In exchange for the weight of goods we collect, we will be given a sum of money. Ordinarily we would plough the money into school funds. On this occasion we will donate the money to a reputable charity e.g. Save the Children who are supporting the refugees.
