As part of Design and Technology this term, Year 5 have researched, designed and finally baked and decorated our very own Christmas Cupcakes. The children researched where ingredients come from and what makes them safe and delicious to eat, and then found examples of and designed their own Christmas Cupcakes. This week they finally got to bake them, and the Year 5 team could not be any prouder of how the children worked collaboratively to make these a huge success. In small groups, they measured, chopped, stirred, whisked, squeezed, zested and poured until the mixture was ready to share between cake cases. Once the cakes were baked and cooled, we then decorated using fondant icing. The children all had different designs, and some had bought in their own decorations to make their cupcakes look attractive. All in all, it was a huge success and the children absolutely loved creating their cakes. We tried the spare ones at the end, and most children even liked the taste of them!
