As we approach the end of our Kindness Fortnight (not that we’ll stop being kind) every class in the school had the opportunity to talk and learn with their respective class at Rowner Junior. We were keen for the children to explore what it means to be kind with people other than those in our immediate community. Rowner have had a Kindness Fortnight too and have been exploring all sorts of matters around what it means to be kind and what this looks like in our community. Ahead of the Google Meet, the children had read a text in class to help aid the discussion. Pictured below are Year 6 at Rowner with Gomer on the screen. Year 5 have yet to meet with each other and when they do they would like to tell the children that kindness at Gomer is:

  • adults that are always there for you
  • supporting one another, sharing resources and helping out
  • fundraising and sending kindness out into the wider community (shoe box appeal)
  • looking after our school by putting our rubbish in the bin and looking after equipment/resources
  • they also said that at our school people are made to feel welcome and that we all understand that even if we are different we can get along.
