This Wellbeing Wednesday we are thinking about keeping a healthy body and a healthy mind for a healthy self.

Year 3 will be thinking about healthy eating and the importance of exercise, by exploring what foods help make up a balanced and healthy diet and help fuel our body. There will be an Operation Ouch investigation for the children to enjoy and the NHS eat well guide will be available for them to look through. They will also be encouraged to reflect on what exercise they enjoy doing and how they rest and relax.

The Singing Dentist will be paying Year 4 a visit in their online classroom to remind us of how we should be brushing our teeth! The children can then enjoy an Operation Ouch investigation that looks at the importance of dental health and use the NHS Teeth and Gums advice to share top tips with their friends and family about how to keep your mouth healthy.

Year 5 will be reflecting on the importance of rest and sleep.

They will watch the Operation Ouch Studying Sleep video, which looks at why it is important to rest and what benefits we get from a good night’s sleep. Children will then be encouraged to use the NHS Sleep Guide to see how much sleep they should be getting each night.

In Year 6 the children will be reflecting on what makes up a healthy lifestyle and the importance of taking responsibility for our own health and wellbeing. Through Operation Ouch videos and NHS guidance, students will be encouraged to think about their diet, oral hygiene, exercise and rest and to consider how they take responsibility for their own health and how they might improve this.

As we grow up, it is vital that we take responsibility for our health. What we eat, the exercise we give our bodies, the rest and relaxation we choose as all these decisions that impact the health of both our bodies and minds.
