It has been wonderful to see everyone at home and those in our ‘Critical Worker Provision’, engage with their virtual school – demonstrating significant resilience, independence and creativity. In brief, the children have been awesome today! It was wonderful to see such high attendance at our live lessons with the children looking super smart in their uniforms. We think lots of children enjoyed wearing some ‘snugglies’ on their lower halves…..! One Y4 parent said, ‘Absolutely brilliant teaching, pre and follow-up tasks and guidance, materials, love, care and support. My hat off to all the teachers and leadership who have made this happen.’

Y6 had just over 97% attendance! A couple of lessons had 100% attendance. We have a weekly Attendance League at school so we are going to transfer this for attendance to our virtual school. We will work out a system to include those children who may have to watch the occasional recorded session when ‘live’ is tricky to access. We are aware that this offer is not without its challenges. We are grateful to our parents for their patience and understanding with the technical side of things – we are all learning too. But having seen the attendance and work submitted, we can already see an increase in the quality of work in comparison to our last lockdown. So, a HUGE well done to all Gomer learners and all the parents/carers supporting them. Parents/carers – please, please, please, if you need help and support getting online, contact us and we will endeavour to help. Lessons are being recorded so they will also be available to view at a later time if you haven’t managed to get onto the live stream. Team Gomer are naturally proud of what they have achieved for the children in less than 24 hours. They are grateful for the supportive feedback. We will be sending a Google Form home soon to collect feedback to help further enhance our offer. Go Gomer!
