During this time of ‘school closure’ the GFM have remained open to the children of critical workers and those identified as vulnerable. From 1 June the Primary Phase of the GFM (Gomer and Rowner Junior School) cautiously re-opened to Year 6 pupils on the respective sites. The pastoral team across both sites have also been enabling face to face meetings to support the wellbeing of our children. Our teachers have been providing learning for children in a variety of ways on a daily basis and maintaining contact with the children.
Last week, the government announced that they were now not directing schools to re-open to other year groups ahead of the summer break. At this time, to maintain strict 2m distancing and prioritise the safety of children and staff, we identified that we are only able to open to Year 6 pupils alongside one to one sessions where a need has been identified.
We remain committed to online provision being provided for Year 6 on the days they are not in school and for Y3, Y4 and Y5 as we have been. Thank you for the Google Form feedback which we will use to enhance our offer further.  We are also currently looking at how to extend this into the summer holiday for those children who would like to maintain a routine. Please note, these will be pre-set and they will not be monitored by teachers in the holiday period.
As always, if you have any queries, please do contact the school directly.
