Firstly, we fully respect the decision of our families regarding whether or not to send their child back to Gomer at this time. Furthermore, if families choose not to return to us just yet, they are very welcome to review this at a later stage. Interestingly, of the children who could have attended yesterday, 80% returned. We loved seeing and learning with the children back in school. The children were settled in their bubbles and all had the opportunity to spend time on a 1-1 basis with Mrs Arnold (our pastoral and learning mentor). We are looking forward to welcoming back more children today.
A few comments from the children who joined us yesterday:

‘I was nervous at first but then I saw my friends and teachers and I felt happy.’

‘It was a good day and great to be able to talk with my teacher.’

‘Fun. Happy. I’m coming back!’

A few comments from Team Gomer:

‘I have missed the children so much. It was great to see them.’

‘The children were so happy to be back – this made my day.’

‘The children were brilliant and managed the systems really well.’

Each child was given the opportunity to decorate a piece of bunting. The bunting has been decorated with messages and pictures. Every child will be given the opportunity to contribute to the class bunting which will be hung at the ‘meet and greet’ station on the playground. The bunting will grow as we add to it and each piece will be tied to an unbroken piece of string. We are trying to message that the children are all individuals but still part of their class and will be ‘together’ on the bunting as they can not all be together in school. For children not returning, we would welcome their A5 sized bunting very much. Please post them to us so that we can laminate and add to the class bunting.
