Today, our HC3S Team supported Young Minds as pat of World Mental Health Day. The team looked fabulous in their yellow outfits. Their efforts have been featured on the H3CS Facebook page. The children were intrigued as to why the team were dressed in yellow. This intrigue will be segued into our assembly tomorrow. And, if the School Council agree, we will dress in yellow, as a whole school next year.
Sometimes people may say they are fine when really they are not. In the UK, 1 in 4 people will experience mental health problems this year; yet the shame and silence can be as bad as the mental health problem itself. Both children and adults are effected by mental health issues so the more we talk about it the stigma attached to individuals saying they are not okay will be marginalised. At Gomer, we have systems in place so that children have time to talk to someone if they are not feeling okay.
