e-Safety is an important part of the Gomer Junior curriculum. It is constantly evolving as games, devices and the internet itself is constantly changing. A week ago today, pupils across all year groups took part in their second e-Safety workshop of this year, delivered by Cwtch Education. It was fantastic to hear how much the children had remembered from their previous workshops, and how a lot of children are confident in explaining what they should do if ever they come across any difficulty online. For these workshops Year 3 children focused on how to stay safe in chat rooms, Year 4 talked about certification, Year 5 discussed grooming and how to stay safe and Year 6 had a workshop on self worth.

Through discussion with the children it is clear that the most of our pupils are very sensible and careful online. Two commonly played games across the year groups was Roblox and Fortnite. These are games which are aimed at children but there are elements to them that could be a concern. Furthermore, they are not targeted for the vast majority of junior aged children.  Please see the two posters below to find out more about these games and top tips to stay safe whilst playing them.
