With thanks to the St. Mary’s Sailing Club, which sails on Alverstoke Creek, for providing some sailing taster sessions for our Y5 children. Children can choose from one of the 4 sessions which will run between 4.30pm-6.00pm:

Monday 18th June

Tuesday 17th July

Wednesday 18th July

Thursday 19th July

The sessions will be run by two of the clubs Sailing Officers. There is a nominal charge of £2.00 towards the cost of maintaining our equipment and you should include this with your Application Form which was sent home with the children on Thursday 14 June.

The club provide boats and buoyancy aids. Children should arrive in old clothes which will get muddy and wet: shorts, T-shirt, windproof top and old trainers or beach shoes are ideal. They should also bring a complete change of clothing, a towel, a snack and a water bottle. At least one adult should remain with the child during the session.

The Club is in Clayhall Road. There is a metal pedestrian entrance gate just by the bus stop opposite the end of St Marks Road. A path leads along the creek to the club house.

The children who visited BAR Land Rover recently, and sailed through the 1851 Trust had a brilliant time. Living so close to the sea we would love more of our children to sail. Please do seize this super opportunity.
