Our Remembrance Assembly 2017 was a very poignant gathering for our community. We used the time to reflect on why we ‘remember’ and the importance of ‘remembrance’ on the 11 hour of the 11 day of the 11 month. Our community, decorated in a range of British Legion remembrance merchandise paid respect to those ‘fallen’ and to men and women in active service today. Two of our Service Club pupils, Niall and Peter, read superbly in our assembly, and noticeably moved, managed to communicate to the school with eloquence. Their presentation of a poppy wreath was supported by Lt. Moss – dad to Niall and Keira. A uniformed presence, with a connection to our community was a purposeful addition to our annual remembrance. We were delighted also that several of our Service Club joined other local schools, yesterday, to plant poppy seeds.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

The Service Club ended their day today with a Movie Night. A necessary boost for some and an overall lovely community event for the children. With thanks to Mrs Gardner for organising this. We look forward to seeing some of our service parents joining us next year and it has been suggested that children who attend cadets wear their uniform too. We welcome this warmly.
