The theme for Anti-Bullying Week has been announced by the Anti-Bullying Alliance and Gomer Junior will be promoting difference and equality in schools with the tag-line: ‘All Different, All Equal’. https://www.anti-bullyingalliance.org.uk/anti-bullying-week
The idea is to help children and young people celebrate what makes them, and others, unique and help them understand why it is important that every child feels included in school and able to be themselves without fear of bullying.
The aim of Anti-Bullying Week is to:

  • empower children and young people to celebrate what makes them, and others, unique
  • help children and young people understand how important it is that every child feels valued and included in school, able to be themselves, without fear of bullying
  • encourage parents and carers to work with their school and talk to their children about bullying, difference and equality

Gomer Junior School will be exploring a range of activities to help our pupils take action to prevent bullying and create safe environments for everyone. To support this theme, we will be hosting a range of activities throughout the week:

  • Launch with ‘Odd Socks Day’ – There is no pressure on the children to wear the latest fashion or for parents to buy expensive costumes.  All they have to do to take part is wear odd socks to school, it couldn’t be simpler!  Odd Socks day will take place on the first day of our Anti Bullying week – Monday 13th November.
  • Whole School Assembly – focusing on the Anti-Bullying Theme
  • Anti-bullying class activities to explore scenarios, reflection and advice
  • Gomer Community ‘Odd Socks’ bunting – we would like to remember Anti-bullying Week by creating a bunting of ‘odd socks’, individualised with a little note about what you feel is important about the theme, ‘All Different, All Equal’. We welcome clean socks from all of the Gomer Community – more socks, the better! Please see attached the ‘All Different, All Equal’ cards to be stapled onto your sock for the bunting. Due in date Friday 17 November 2017.
