The Gomer Girls football team had a tough introduction to the league as they met a strong Alverstoke team. The team took to the field looking smart in their new yellow kit and soon realised they were in a difficult game. Alverstoke put the pressure on from the word go and soon started to find the net despite some great saves from substitute goalkeeper Rebecca. The outfield players were battling with all their hearts but one or two of the Alverstoke players were just too strong. Even though Alverstoke turned out to be 10-0 winners there were highlights for the Gomer team: Rebecca saved a penalty, Kaya hit the post and in the last few minutes Gomer showed that they could compete against a very good team.
The girls should be proud of keeping going to the very end and should look forward to the next game. Well done girls!
