We are very proud announce our new ‘Big Write’ weekly competition. Each week, all children from Year 3 to Year 6 will write in reaction to a common stimulus. This could be a picture, piece of music or a film. The anticipation is half the fun! In every class, one child’s piece of work is nominated and an eventual winner is chosen and announced during assembly at the start of the week. As well as temporary ownership of the ‘Big Write trophy, the winner gets their work published on our school site for the whole world to see.
Congratulations to Scarlett Duff of 3LW (week 1 winner) and Gracie Pick of 6VH (week 2 winner).

Many, many moons ago in the land above the sky stood a breathtaking fairy kingdom with flowers and buildings every colour of the rainbow where the fairies lived. Disturbing the brightness though was a cheerless black building where atrocious queen Mariana lived. Even the doors were black, and so were the stained glass windows. The fairies all wanted Mariana once and for all.
One day the joyfulness in the fairy kingdom disappeared because sapphire, the fairy kitten, had gone missing. Everyone was searching for her. Sapphire was a playful and friendly kitten with a spectacularly silky coat. The three best friends, Kirsty, Amelia and Taylor were tracking down her heat signature on a computer. ‘’Look!’’ called Kristy to Taylor and Amelia. ‘’There’s a heat signature!’’ Amelia and Taylor swiftly ran over to Kirsty. ‘’That can only mean.’’ ‘’Mariana!’’ Taylor exclaimed, partly interrupting Amelia. When the three girls told the rulers, they said the girls would have to go themselves, no help at all, to save sapphire and kill the queen Mariana.
The girls prepared themselves in armour and took one weapon each Amelia had a knife, Kirsty had a chainsaw and Taylor had a gun but they all had to use magic to open the cage that sapphire was trapped in. Then the girls     flew to the queen Mariana’s castle. Queen Mariana had a heart of stone. She was selfish and shouted at everyone who entered her castle. She was vain and a pain. She smelled like potions at all times because she always made potions to kill people.

Within the dark chamber of the science laboratory a young boy named Chris, squeezed and moulded the black lava producing an invention that has ever seen before! Clenching the model in his hands Chris squeezed his invention more and more with every grip until he was satisfied it would stay together. Ripping the legs of a lifeless frog he shoved them where the models legs were planned to go with all his might lousing the clay to crack a little.
Finishing the invention, Chris made his final touches before placing the brain onto the head of the model and giving it an almighty shack followed by a crackled laugh,’’ My invention is alive!’’ he chanted, ’’It’s alive!’’
